Elementary
Our Elementary School Level of Religious Education.
The early, formative years of a child's life are the important foundation upon which the rest of the child's life will be built and lived. It is in these early years that Religious Education and Faith Formation begins. Each year, builds upon the previous, in helping the children discover the relationship they have between themselves and their family, themselves and their neighbors, themselves and the family of God and themselves and God.
Each year has a specific focus and development. The second grade year also has the special added experiences of preparing for and celebrating the Sacraments of First Penance and First Eucharist. It is important that these Sacraments be a part of the ongoing and continuing Faith Formation of the child, and not simply a "plug-in" at the right age. Parents must register their child starting in first grade as the preparation for the Sacraments is a two year process. The children return in third grade to continue their Faith Formation. The sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the Fall of 11th grade and then Faith Formation continues through out our life, "from womb to tomb". Confirmation is not a graduation!
