High School
High School Religious Education Formation
High School marks the final stage in the formal faith formation of our young people. While our education in the faith, and our formation as disciples of Christ is never complete, grades 9 and 10 mark the end of the formalized education experience. The result is the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation by which we welcome each young person into full initiation within the Catholic Church.
It is with the celebration of this final Sacrament of Initiation, that each young adult declares their acceptance of the faith, that they have witnessed through the weekly celebration of the Eucharist, and the educational building blocks of the MANNA Program.
In fact, while it has been the responsibility of the parent to share the faith and help their children grow in understanding of the faith, it now stands to the young adult to make the final decision of entrance into the Sacrament. If they have come to accept the faith as their own, and are ready to accept the Sacrament on their own, then they are ready to receive the outpouring of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism. Should they not be ready to make that strong statement of faith, or feel that they are still in discernment of it, then while their formal education may come to an end, it does not mean the Sacrament needs be celebrated. In-fact, if that's the case, it should not be, but rather wait until that student is ready and willing.
M.A.N.N.A (Mass And Necessary Nutritional Alternatives) is the vehicle by which teens prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. Immaculate Conception's MANNA Program is NOT a traditional classroom based Religious Education program. Rather, it is a unique, self-directed, living faith experience. Participants choose from a variety of options to meet the minimum requirements in each of the following categories: Education, Service, Worship and Retreat Opportunities. The MANNA program produces well-rounded, faithful disciples of Christ.
